Christian Falsnaes presents his performance Existing Things: With the élan of a pop song and the force of an agitator, the Danish artist brings together various production methods and elements drawn from art history, philosophy, popular culture and street art. Falsnaes’ performances create a bond between private and public space and incorporate both avant-garde movements and territorial claims.
In his works – performances, installations and paintings – Christian Falsnaes scrutinizes our relationship and our behaviour in relation to and within public space. In the process, he uses different formal languages that range from Graffiti and Hip Hop to video games and Karaoke, up to Action Painting. His performances often have the structure of a show and provoke an active participation from the audience. As a guest lecturer at the Bern University of the Arts, Switzerland, Falsnaes and students organized in the frame of the lecture Fear and public space (with So:ren Berner) a protest march through the city of Bern, demonstrating against “the fear of the fear”.
"I am interested in the individual and the way he/she experiences reality. The way norms, roles and patterns are constituted through common language and iconography and the way individual people reproduce them. In my works, rationality, justification, knowledge and belief are intertwined with desire, frustration and lack of control. My identity and understanding of the world is put together by a vast amount of available information. The art I do reflects that condition.“ (Christian Falsnaes)
Christian Falsnaes (*1980, Denmark) studied at the Academy of Fine Arts, Vienna, where he currently lives and works. This year, he presented amongst others his works at Rohde Contemporary in Copenhagen, at the Sequences Real time Art Festival in Reykjavik and will also realize a solo exhibition at Gallery PSM, Berlin this autumn.

Grand Opening
Alessandra Pallotta (Forniture Pallotta)
May 27, 2011
On the occasion of the GRAND OPENING Alessandra Pallotta (Forniture Pallotta, Berlin)
features Italian specialties beyond the usual Trattoria cliché. The project, which has been specially developed for OSLO10, will surprise not only because of the culinary experience it provides, but also on account of its artistic arrangement, which has been tailored to the specific location.
The Italian food designer Alessandra Pallotta has arranged caterings in Berlin since 2010. In her projects, she focuses on the presentation of Italian specialties: after careful research, the groceries are often imported from different regions in Italy. For each catering, Pallotta designs a special setting that relates as much to the space as the specific context of the venue. Thus, in her presentation at OSLO10, the artist reacts directly to the performance by Christian Falsnaes that will also take place in the exhibition spaces of OSLO10. Pallotta offers a site-specific combination made of Olio Extra Vergine d`Oliva Toscano, Salame Milano, Coppa di Parma as well as Vacherin and Tilsiter cheese.
Forniture Pallotta has organized the reception catering of this year`s Gallery Weekend in Berlin at the Italian embassy as well as the dinner for the opening of James Franco’s exhibition at Peres Projects, Berlin (2011), amongst other projects.
