We are delighted to invite you to the Finale of our two-years-program at OSLO10.

We present:

HOTAVANTGARDEHOTHOT 2011-2013. The book:

HOTAVANTGARDEHOTHOT accompanies the exhibition activities by Simone Neuenschwander and Christiane Rekade at the independent exhibition space OSLO10 in Basel. The publication serves as a reflexive space around the concept of the avant-garde. It includes the essay “This difficulty of accurate recognition...” by art historians Claudia Blümle and Hans-Christian von Herrmann, which reflects on the war-related aesthetic of the avant-garde as a term from military strategy. In “Things that leave me sleepless”, Gernot Wieland recalls the heroic figures of his childhood, and in “W as in Gesamtkunstwerk” Karl Holmqvist sketches a series of associations ranging from the artists of the Wiener Werkstätte and their ideal of the total work of art to the image of the VW Beetle, and the urban changes that have taken place in Berlin’s Kreuzberg neighbourhood.
Beside the book shows a large documentation of the exhibitions and events with Sandra Kolstad, Thea B. Strømme, Alessandra Pallotta, Christian Falsnaes, Shana Moulton, Marco Bruzzone, Aloïs Godinat, Jérémie Gindre, Markus Müller, Mandla Reuter, Valentina Stieger, Agnieszka Brzezanska, Aleksandra Domanović, Karl Holmqvist, Adriana Salazar Arroyo, Reto Pulfer, Gernot Wieland, Amelie von Wulffen, Jeroen Jacobs, Nuri Koerfer, Aude Pariset, Julie Grosche, Aurélia Defrance, Harm van den Dorpel, Calla Henkel, Max Pitegoff, Stephen Lichty, Sara Ludy, Mélodie Mousset, Beni Bischof, Daniel Jackson, Toril Johannessen, Marcellvs L., Riccardo Previdi, Diego Tonus, Marlie Mul, Gerda Scheepers, Andrea Francke, Eva Weinmayr, Clare Kenny, Manon Bellet, Martin Chramosta, Gabi Deutsch, Sonia Kacem, Sam Porritt and Gitte Schäfer.

The publication was generously supported by: Kulturförderung Appenzell Ausserrhoden, kulturelles.bl and Abteilung Kultur Basel-Stadt.

JEREMIE GINDRE: SANDWICHSM. Reading

Jérémie Gindre, artist from Geneva, showed in autumn 2011 different sitespecific Works in the Outdoor Exhibition "Pioneers to the Falls" at OSLO10. On Thursday he will read Sandwichsm (Rollo Press), an encyclopedic road trip that follows the tracks of whale watching, minimalism drawing, rock moving and lobster eating. Learn about Lewis & Clark's explorations, naturalist-nudist-artist James Perry Wilson and New York City geology. We are happy to invite you to this multi-lingual lecture plus illustrations (reading in French with German subtitles).
